Saumu Mbuvi and her husband, Lamu Senators, Anwar Loitiptip are in mourning after police short Mr. David Kiwaka (Saumu Mbuvi’s father-in-later and Loitiptip’s father) over facemask.
Saumu has alleged that police shot her father-in-law when he was trying to beat curfew hours. She also condemned the police for using excessive force to Citizens especially during this COVID-19 pandemic period
“They shot my father in law today, yet it was still daytime!!! Police brutality must stop…. Everyday we get cases of them shooting innocent citizens and nothing is being done… it’s time this end. Police brutality must and should stop! We are tired. Stop taking advantage of your power to intimidate innocent citizens”.
However, according to Loitiptip, his father, Mr. David Kiwaka was shot in the leg and brutally injured by an officer from Doldol Police Station in Laikipia County.
He said that his father was shot by police after trying to arrest him for failing to wear a face mask.
“My father, David Kiwaka, has been shot in the leg and brutally injured by police officers at Doldol Police Station, Laikipia County. He has been rushed to Nanyuki Cottage. I am currently in Nanyuki pursuing the matter. Justice must prevail for my father. That’s why I am calling for speedy investigations and for the officer involved to be arrested,” Loitiptip said in a statement.
