Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has voiced his opinion regarding rumors making it that league leader Barcelona might be handed over the title. However, the 27-year-old Belgian national is optimistic that the league will resume soon.

Courtois has said that it will be extremely unfair both on him and his other Real Madrid teammates should their rivals Barcelona win the league by default.

“We are only two points behind Barcelona and if the season were to be canceled and Barcelona declared champions then it would be unjust,” Courtois said in an interview on a Belgian TV

“We drew with them and beat them this year, we were the better team.  In the case of Liverpool, it would be different because I don’t even know how many points ahead they are. I want to finish the season” the father of two said

The entire Real Madrid squad are set to under COVID-19 test this coming Wednesday and if everything goes well, the training could resume on Monday, May 11

“We need to be 100% sure that we are taking the necessary medical precautions before we start playing again”. He added.

What happens if a player from another team gets infected? I guess there are lots of things to consider, but I would love to finish the season. He concluded.

Barcelona currently leads La Liga with 58 points followed by Real Madrid with 56 points. Sevilla is 3rd with 47 points.
