Which Face Mask Should You Wear? Find Out Here


Well, face masks have become a necessity in the fight against the novel Coronavirus, with officials around the world recommend to wear them so as to help slow the spread of the deadly disease.

Figuring out which mask to wear, N95 and medical face masks who offer the most protection and are heavily demand should basically be reserved for healthcare workers who are regularly exposed to patients.

It is recommended that you wear face masks in a proper way in order to prevent yourself from being infected. They should properly fit from the top nose to the chin with no gaps left.

It is also recommended that a mask should be worn every time you are outside and you should not keep on moving it up and down. Masks are 100% effective, bet they can help keep both you and those around you safe when combined with social distancing and regular hand-washing as well.

We are going to look at some types of masks you might have come across, how they work and also their level of protection.

N95 Masks

The N95 masks are the most effective masks. Just like ita name, the masks can block at least 95% of tiny particles (0.3 microns) which are hardest to capture. An average human hair is about 70 – 100 microns wide. These masks are designed for single use only and are made of polyester and other synthetic fibers which filters very tiny particles.

While wearing a face mask, you have to make sure that there are no gaps between the edge of the mak and your skin.

Some N95s have exhalation valves on the front, which make it easier to breathe. Those masks are often used in construction. A mask with a valve should not be used in areas that are meant to be sterile, like hospital operating rooms.


Medical/surgical masks

Medical masks are less effective as compared to N95 masks. These masks said to filter 60% to 80% of small particles. If worn in the right way, they can help to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus by filtering droplets when you cough or sneeze. They are disposable and designed to be used only once. Which means they should not be used more than once or recycled.
